Tower of the Americas
I was excited to check out the Tower of Americas, located in HemisFair Park near downtown San Antonio. It was built in 1968 for the World Fair and also to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of San Antonio! The tower represents the ethnic diversity and international presence of San Antonio. There's also a really cool observation deck that lets people check out all angles of San Antonio. Next time I go back, I'm going to eat at Chart House which is a restaurant located at the very top of the tower. The desserts looked amazing!
There are also many other places to go near the tower. There's the Institute of Texan Culture, the Mexican Cultural Institute and the Magik Theater, which is a cool place for kids. Hemisfair Park also hosts many events throughout the year! It just hosted a music and art event called Luminaria and I'm looking forward to checking out more event this summer.

Mel, I had no idea you were so tall!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun spot to visit on these lovely summer days. I'll have to check out the observation deck as per your suggestion!
Or, perhaps, the Tower is shrinking???
ReplyDeleteHow much does it cost to go up there?
